How it works

A sale needs proof. A row is a sale only when the label says Sale and a struck price is shown. The struck price becomes the regular price and the shown price goes in the discount column.

Some labels never discount. Member, loyalty, coupon and compare-at prices are never a sale. A struck price beside a member or loyalty price is the regular price. Otherwise the shown price is regular.

Per unit is regular over size. Price per unit is the regular price divided by size. Discount per unit appears only when a true sale exists.

Averages stay on the band. Average price and size use single packs inside the size band, never club or multi-pack rows. Per-unit averages use every row with a size. Under 3 rows is marked directional.

Record what the shelf shows, then let the rules decide. A sale typed into the regular price column is the most common error in a price study.

Use the store's own product page, never a reseller or delivery app, and record the location on every row. Everything saves in this browser only.
